Name Contest
First and foremost, this newsletter needs a name other than Theta Pi Newsletter! Therefore, we are holding a contest in order to find a perfect name for our future publications. Just to give you some ideas, here are some other SAI newsletter names: Petals, The Pan Pipe Press, Capitol Rose, and Beta Epislon's newsletter is The Beta Epsilon Beat.
Contest submissions should be put in the SAI mailbox in Smith Hall no later than March 12, 2004 at 5pm. There is NO limit to the number of submissions per person. There will be a panel of judges to decide the winner, and the new name and winner will be announced in our next publication. So, keep an eye out for next month's issue! Also, the winner will recieve her very own personalized SAI paraphernalia.

Recap of Fall 2003
Rush for Fall 2003 went well considering that Hurrican Isabel forced us to cancel two of our originally planned events. The rush events that actually happened are as follows:
-
September 4 - Meet & Greet
-
September 5 - Pizza Night and Virginia Symphony Concert
-
September 6 - Movie Night
-
September 7 - Closed Rush: Pot Luck Dinner
Province Day was hosted by Richmond Alumnae on November 8 from 1-5pm. The day's events included an informal gathering, a musicale, and High Tea. At High Tea, we discussed the SAI National Objectives, remembered the Centennial Convention, and got a chance to hear about many projects and activities happening throughout our Province. Our chapter sent 7 ladies to Provine Day this Fall: Mandy Collins, Brenda Huffaker, Kymberley Jeffries, Karen Kalgren, Britinie Koke, Margee Rader, and one MIT--Laura Fields.
Fundraisers in 2003. We sold miniature pumpkins to support Halloween and Thanksgiving spirit at the end of October. At the sale, we also sold numerous baked goods made by the sisters in our chapter. For two nights in December, the music department at Christopher Newport University performs its annual public concert Holiday Happening. This year, our chapter of SAI sold Christmas/CNU ornaments after the concert to support the spirit of the holidays. We catered the reception for this concert, as well. All semester, we worked with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and held a weekly hot dog/drinks/bake sale at 012 (a mandatory class for all music majors and minors.)
Service Projects we've completed are as follows:
- In November, our chapter provided receptions for Crystal Thornell and Britinie Koke's junior recitals along with Dara Sherman's senior recital.
- Also in November, our chapter helped girls of a local Girl Scout troop earn their music badge.
- Throughout November and December, our chapter held a food drive to help the community after Hurricane Isabel.
- On December 6 and 7 we helped cater CNU's Holiday Happening for over 600 people.
Social Events we had:
- Oct 31 - costume party with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia
- Dec 5 - after the MIT's social, our chapter had a sleepover where we exchanged our Secret Santa gifts
Coming in 2004
Fundraisers include a work-day at Wal-mart, car washes, and we plan to sell chocolate roses for Valentine's Day. For a service project this spring, we have a Rock-a-thon scheduled for March 17th to raise money for a local high school's music department--Heritage High School. Pledges and donations will be accepted as our sisters take turns rocking in 5 rocking chairs on the Great Lawn for 24 consecutive hours.
